Mordovia Arena was built in Saransk for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The stadium has a capacity of 42,839 spectators. It hosted four group-stage matches during the tournament: Peru–Denmark, Colombia–Japan, Iran–Portugal, and Panama–Tunisia.

Today, Mordovia Arena continues to operate as part of the World Cup legacy program. The stadium hosts football matches and houses sports clubs, training programs, and leisure and entertainment facilities. Its grounds are open to visitors daily. The Arena for Everyone project is developing spaces for recreation, sport, leisure, and creative activities.

As part of preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the stadium required a modern ticketing and access control system.

Infomatika was responsible for the following tasks:

  • Automate ticket sales;
  • Equip entrance areas with spectator access control equipment;
  • Adapt the ticketing and access control system to FIFA requirements;
  • Enable integration with the ticketing operator, FIFA’s accreditation system, and the 2018 World Cup Fan ID system;
  • Provide integration with external ticketing operators for continued operation in post-tournament legacy mode;
  • Implement a ticketing system for FC Mordovia.
Infomatika served as a contractor to FIFA Ticketing for the implementation of the stadium’s access control system, carrying out system preparation and providing technical support throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup. On match days, the company’s engineers worked on site to support the system.

Key Project Components

  • LENTA Automated Ticketing and Access Control System. A specialized hardware and software system for automating ticketing and admission processes at sports venues. Its application software was adapted to FIFA requirements.
  • Spectator Access Control System. Controls spectator access to the stadium grounds through entrance equipment.
  • Full-Height Dual-Lane Rotor Turnstiles. Installed at the stadium’s entrance areas.
  • Waist-Height Motorized Swing Turnstiles. Installed as part of the access control system.
  • Automatic Powered Gates. Complement the stadium’s entrance equipment.
  • Full-Height Single-Lane Turnstile Gates. Provide access for visitors with reduced mobility.
  • LENTA-Linea Pro NFC Mobile Terminals. Used by ticket resolution teams to validate tickets.
  • UCM-2A Automation Controllers. Manufactured and supplied as part of the stadium equipment package.

Integration

Integration solutions were developed and implemented to connect LENTA with the ticketing operator, FIFA’s accreditation system, and the 2018 World Cup Fan ID system.

Integration with external ticketing operators was also implemented to support the stadium’s continued operation after the World Cup.

System Management Infrastructure

Seventeen automated workstations were installed to operate the ticketing and access control system: 9 cashier workstations, 3 manager workstations, 3 accreditation workstations, and 2 central system node workstations.
