Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow

Equipping the university’s new buildings with an access control system based on Resonance smart turnstiles and Concept smart gates. Integration with the facial recognition system and the Parsec access control system.

Under implementation

Bauman Moscow State Technical University is Russia’s largest and oldest technical university. As part of the university’s comprehensive campus development program, a large-scale project involving the construction and renovation of 14 buildings with a total area of 170,000 m² has been implemented. The new campus brings together academic buildings, research centers, laboratories, dormitories, and other university infrastructure facilities.

As the number of students increased and technology continued to advance, the university faced the need to modernize its infrastructure to provide a comfortable and efficient learning environment. The existing building complex had become outdated and could no longer meet the needs of the rapidly developing university. As a result, in 2021, the federal and Moscow city governments approved a comprehensive redevelopment of the Bauman University campus. The project included the construction and renovation of 14 buildings with a total area of 170,000 m².

The development of the new Bauman Moscow State Technical University cluster is one of the most ambitious and large-scale projects in higher education and innovation infrastructure. At the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, a state-of-the-art campus was built on the Yauza River embankment, featuring first-class teaching facilities, advanced laboratories, and modern, comfortable student dormitories.

The new campus buildings required an access control solution for students, faculty, and visitors, supporting identification via contactless cards and facial biometrics, with integration into the facility’s existing access control system.

Infomatika was tasked with the following objectives:

  • Provide controlled access to the university’s new buildings;
  • Enable students and faculty to access the premises using contactless cards and facial biometrics;
  • Ensure that the new equipment operates as part of the university’s existing access control infrastructure;
  • Automate visitor access and the collection of single-use access cards.

Infomatika participated in equipping the new buildings of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, serving as the contractor responsible for automating access control and management at the main entrance areas.

Key Project Components:

  • Resonance Smart Turnstiles. A customized version of the waist-high swing-gate smart turnstile was developed specifically for Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The turnstiles are equipped with Parsec access control controllers and readers, as well as Hikvision facial recognition terminals. The equipment enables students and faculty to access the premises using contactless cards or facial biometrics. Made of stainless steel and tempered glass, the turnstiles also feature an integrated body temperature measurement module.
  • Concept Automated Smart Gates. Installed at the entrances to the new campus buildings, the gates are designed to provide convenient access for visitors with reduced mobility.
  • Access Card Collectors. Designed to collect single-use access cards when visitors leave the premises. To return a visitor card, the user simply inserts it into the access card collector.
  • Half-Height Fencing for ACS. Defines access zones and guides visitor flows through the entrance control equipment. Made of stainless steel and tempered glass, the fencing is designed to match the style of the smart turnstiles.

Integrations

The smart turnstiles are integrated with the facility’s Parsec access control system and the Hikvision facial recognition system, enabling students and faculty to access the premises using either contactless cards or facial biometric identification.
