A large-scale project aimed at enhancing security and advancing the digitalization of educational institutions is underway in Moscow and the Moscow Region. The initiative is led by the Moscow Government Department of Information Technology (DIT). As part of the citywide Electronic Card Access and School Meals System, schools are being equipped with advanced access control and automated attendance tracking solutions.

The project required equipment specifically adapted to the school environment: compact and easy to install at entrance areas, designed to handle high volumes of students, and supporting modern identification methods.

Infomatika was tasked with the following objectives:

  • Enhance security at educational institutions through automated access control;
  • Ensure fast and convenient access for students while accommodating high traffic volumes at entrance areas;
  • Take into account the specific requirements of the school environment, student behavior, and architectural constraints of the facilities;
  • Support multiple user identification methods;
  • Integrate the equipment with the Electronic Card-Based Access and School Meals System and the on-site access control system.
  • Enable centralized monitoring of the technical status of the installed equipment.

Infomatika serves as the project’s technology partner, manufacturing and supplying access control equipment specifically adapted to the school environment. To date, 2,822 devices have been manufactured as part of the project, and more than 300 schools across Moscow have been equipped with Infomatika solutions.

The equipment features a compact design, high throughput capacity, and an intuitive interface with LED indicators that help students navigate the entry process. The devices support contactless cards and wristbands, QR codes and barcodes, NFC and BLE credentials, and are also designed to support the future implementation of biometric identification.

Key Project Components:

  • Vector 2.1 and Vector 3.1 Smart Turnstiles. Tripod smart turnstiles used to provide controlled student access at the entrances to educational institutions.
  • Contour Bio Smart Turnstiles. Swing-gate smart turnstiles designed for high-traffic facilities, providing high throughput capacity at entrance areas. The wider passage ensures comfortable access for all categories of users.
  • Concept Smart Gates. Automated gates designed to provide convenient access for visitors with reduced mobility.
  • ESMART®Reader. At the customer’s request, the equipment can be additionally fitted with NFC- and BLE-enabled readers, allowing users to use their smartphones as digital credentials without presenting a physical access card.
  • Half-Height Fencing for ACS. Used together with turnstiles and gates to organize entrance areas and guide users through designated access points.

System Management Infrastructure

All installed equipment is integrated with the citywide Electronic Card-Based Access and School Meals System and the on-site access control system. This enables the Moskvenok Card to be used as a student’s digital credential, serving as an electronic key for entering and exiting the school.

The system also provides automated attendance tracking. Through the mobile app, parents can monitor their child’s arrival and departure times, as well as their spending in the school cafeteria.

All installed equipment is connected to a centralized monitoring system that provides real-time tracking of its technical status. This diagnostic capability helps detect and prevent potential malfunctions in a timely manner, improving equipment reliability and ensuring uninterrupted operation.
