Kurumoch International Airport, Samara
A complex of works on equipping the airport exit area with Contour Classic smart access control turnstiles.
Implemented in 2025
Kurumoch Airport is one of Russia's 20 hub airports with federal status. It is the largest aviation complex in the Volga region, providing air links between the Samara Region and the leading regions of Russia, CIS countries and far abroad. The airport serves more than 3 million passengers annually.
Project objectives:
To organize automated control of passengers' passage from the terminal to the city;
Prevent unauthorized passage;
Ensure a comfortable and safe passage for passengers with luggage, parents with children, and groups with limited mobility;
Integrate a modern solution into the airport infrastructure, taking into account operational requirements.
In 2024, as part of a pilot project, a Contour Classic smart turnstile made of stainless steel and tempered glass was installed and put into test operation in the exit area of Kurumoch airport. "The device provides high throughput, stable operation in conditions of heavy passenger traffic and fully complies with transport safety requirements approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated September 26, 2016 No. 969.
The installed Contour Classic smart turnstile operates in the "normally closed" mode — the doors open automatically when the sensors are triggered when the passenger is in the aisle. For emergency situations, an emergency "anti-panic" mode is provided, which instantly unlocks the doors, providing free passage. The structure is equipped with two levels of sensors — upper and lower — which ensures safe and convenient passage of people with luggage of various types and sizes, as well as parents with young children.
After the successful completion of the test period, the equipment will be put into operation on a permanent basis in 2025.
