Nizhny Novgorod metro

The Nizhny Novgorod metro is a key element of the city's transport infrastructure, ensuring the movement of passengers along the main routes of the city. Since the opening of the subway, the access control equipment installed in 1985 at the stations has not changed. Long-term operation of outdated devices led to frequent breakdowns, high power consumption and significant maintenance costs.

Zarechnaya station is one of the largest stations in the Nizhny Novgorod metro. To increase the efficiency of work and modernize passenger flows, Infomatika has equipped the station with new access control and management equipment. The company has developed a new modification of the Contour-EK smart turnstile specifically for the project.

The devices are made of stainless steel and tempered glass, equipped with modern bank and transport card readers, QR code support, color display and intelligent light indication. There are 8 passageways at the entrance groups in the two station lobbies: passengers can now pay for travel in any convenient way — using a bank or Citicard transport card, a Nizhny Novgorod Region resident card, using the QR code in the ticket, or using biometric identification through the built-in terminals.  

A distinctive feature of the new model is the aQsi cube validator built into the turnstiles. The shock-resistant body of the validator is equipped with a touch screen with vandal-proof protection, can withstand low temperatures and is protected from moisture. The equipment is integrated with the region's transport operator, Citicard.

As part of the project, Infomatika specialists carried out a full range of work: production and supply of equipment, installation and commissioning.

On October 24, 2025, the Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, tested the operation of new turnstiles at the Zarechnaya metro station. According to the mayor, modernization of equipment is planned at all stations of the Nizhny Novgorod metro.

Scope of equipment:
 

1. Production, supply, installation of smart turnstiles of the new Contour EK modification - 18 racks, 16 aisles.

2. Integration of equipment with the current transport operator of the region

3. Start-up and adjustment work
