Smart Turnstiles for the Leningrad Railway Station

Infomatika has equipped the Leningradsky Railway Station in Moscow with modern M2030 smart turnstiles. This project is part of a large-scale reconstruction of one of the country's largest railway hubs and aims to improve passenger capacity, security, and comfort.

On May 22, 2026, the renovated Leningradsky Railway Station officially reopened. The opening ceremony was attended by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin and Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Russian Railways.

Leningradsky Railway Station is one of the oldest railway stations in Moscow and a key transport hub connecting the capital with St. Petersburg and the largest cities in the North-West of Russia. Every day, the station serves tens of thousands of passengers on long-distance trains, suburban routes, and high-speed Sapsan trains. The high volume of traffic requires modern solutions for efficient passenger flow management.

As part of the реконstruction, 19 smart turnstile units of the “M2030” series were installed in the station exit areas.

The devices are equipped with an increased number of passage sensors that accurately detect a passenger’s position within the проход zone, account for luggage, and prevent the premature closing of the gate panels. The equipment ensures fast, safe, and comfortable passage for all passenger categories, including passengers with luggage, parents with children, and passengers with reduced mobility.

Smart turnstiles of the “M2030” series are successfully deployed at high-traffic transportation facilities, including the Nizhegorodskaya station of the Moscow Metro.

“Moscow, together with Russian Railways, made the decision to gradually reconstruct the entire area of the Three Station Square, starting with its oldest and most significant terminal — Leningradsky Railway Station, which had become physically and technologically outdated. A complete reconstruction was carried out. Today, it is a modern station offering new services and a new level of comfort for employees and, most importantly, for passengers,” said Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.

“Today we are witnessing the opening of an entirely new railway station. It is the same railway, but the level of comfort for passengers is completely different. Compared to just a year ago, the amount of space available to passengers has tripled. The number of seats has increased by one and a half times — more than one thousand people will now be able to receive services and comfortably stay at the station simultaneously,” emphasized Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Russian Railways.

The reconstruction of Leningradsky Railway Station has become one of the largest railway infrastructure modernization projects in Moscow in recent years. Following its reopening, the upgraded station has received a new passenger flow management system, modern digital services and navigation, as well as direct access to the Komsomolskaya metro station.
