Smart turnstiles for Kazan Airport’s new terminal
Infomatika’s smart turnstiles have been installed in the new Terminal B at Gabdulla Tukay Kazan International Airport. The equipment forms part of the terminal’s access control and passenger flow management infrastructure.
On October 15, 2026, the new terminal began handling domestic flights in trial operation. Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, attended the technical launch. UVT AERO operated the first flight from the new terminal on the Kazan–Grozny route.
The terminal’s launch marked an important milestone in the development of Tatarstan’s main airport. Covering more than 38,000 square meters, the facility is designed to handle over 5.7 million passengers annually. It combines modern pre-flight passenger services, automated baggage handling, and comfortable waiting areas. Boarding gates with passenger boarding bridges, business lounges, and dedicated areas for families with children provide an enhanced level of service for residents and visitors to the republic.
For the new terminal, Infomatika implemented a solution combining several equipment models to meet the requirements of different areas. Meridian gateway-type smart turnstiles are installed at the entrance to the secure area. Two-stage access control involves sequential boarding pass and passport verification, with the gateway’s gates opening in stages. The equipment is designed to support biometric identification in the future.
Flagman Lite Aero smart turnstiles with integrated boarding pass scanners are installed at the boarding gates. The equipment automatically verifies each passenger’s eligibility to board and opens the gates once access is confirmed. Color displays show the verification result, while integrated passage sensors track the passenger’s position in the lane to prevent the gates from closing prematurely.
Meridian gateway-type smart turnstiles are successfully operating at Sheremetyevo Airport as part of Russia’s first project enabling paperless passenger access to the security screening area using biometric identification.
