Ak Bars Arena (known as Kazan Arena until November 7, 2019) is a multipurpose football stadium with a capacity of 45,000 spectators and the home ground of FC Rubin. The stadium has hosted major international sporting events, including the 2013 Summer Universiade, the 2015 World Aquatics Championships, the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The project required equipping the stadium with a modern ticketing and access control system and creating a unified ticketing infrastructure for FC Rubin. This infrastructure would automate various ticket sales scenarios and allow the club to use a single system for matches held at different venues.

Infomatika was tasked with the following objectives:

  • automate ticket sales for events;

  • provide FC Rubin with tools for selling individual tickets and season tickets, managing reservations and ticket allocations, and processing group bookings;

  • enable the club to use a unified ticketing system for matches held at different venues;

  • provide for integration with a CRM system and the Russian Football Premier League’s fan identification system.

Infomatika’s specialists equipped the stadium with the Lenta Automated Ticketing and Access Control System, comprising hardware and software, and implemented a ticketing system for FC Rubin.

Key Project Components:

  • Lenta Automated Ticketing and Access Control System. Combines ticket sales, accounting, and validation processes and supports the ticketing infrastructure of the stadium and FC Rubin.

  • Full-height dual-lane rotor turnstiles. Installed at the main entrances to spectator sections and equipped with barcode readers for ticket-based access.

  • Waist-height motorized swing turnstiles. Installed at the main entrance to the west VIP area and equipped with barcode readers for ticket-based access.

  • Waist-height two-arm turnstiles. Installed at the entrances to the east VIP area and the additional entrance to the west VIP area.

  • Waist-height powered swing gates. Provide access at the entrances to the VIP areas.

  • Full-height emergency exit gates. Installed throughout the facility to provide evacuation routes.

  • V6 Rubin terminals. Allow fans to print admission passes for tickets purchased online using Mastercard.

  • Mobile ticket validation terminals. Used by the ticket resolution team to check tickets within the stadium grounds.

  • FC Rubin online ticket store. Enables online ticket purchases and operates as part of the integrated ticketing and access control system. The interface reflects the club’s corporate branding.

System Management Infrastructure

Cashier and manager workstations were installed to operate the ticketing system. The box office infrastructure comprises three ticket office areas: two main areas with 14 ticket windows each and an additional area serving the fans’ section.

Fault-tolerant server equipment was installed to support the hardware and software system.

Infomatika served as a contractor to FIFA Ticketing for the implementation of access control systems at the 2018 FIFA World Cup stadiums. The company carried out the full preparation and provided technical support for the unified ticketing and access control system used across all stadiums during the tournament.

As part of the stadium’s upgrade and adaptation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the following additional equipment and software were deployed:

  • Gotschlich Ecco Arena full-height dual-lane rotor turnstiles. Additional units were installed as part of the entrance infrastructure upgrade.

  • Universal control units. Manage access control equipment.

  • Barcode and contactless card readers. Validate access credentials.

  • Infomatika Lenta Linea Pro NFC mobile terminals. Enable staff to verify access rights on the move.
